About Denis Vasilyevich Davydov (1784 – 1839), an excellent poet and a brave soldier who fought against the French in Russia, against the Swedes in Finland and against the Turks in Moldavia. The filmmakers chose only one year of his difficult life, the year 1812, decisive in the Patriotic War, in which Davydov, as the commander of a partisan unit, intervened in the struggle for the freedom of Russia.
