The festival aims to remind visitors of the film print format, which is no longer used in Central Europe, which dazzled visitors with its brilliant display of details and its unsurpassed surround sound at the time.
A frame of a regular 35mm widescreen film contains 387.66 mm² of image, which is 2.75 times less than 1068.98 mm² on a 70mm print. Films shot on 70/65mm negative therefore have a greater depth of field and show more fine details.
The Kino Mír 70 in Krnov is currently one of three cinemas in the Visegrad Four countries that is capable of screening the 70mm film format with the original, up to six-channel magnetic sound recording on a 105 square meter curved screen.
The name of the festival has several meanings. KRRR! is a combination of the letters at the beginning of the city's name Krnov, which creates a characteristic sound (almost inpronounceable to foreigners), which is also an interjection of the sound of the projection machine.
