Festival history

In the times of closing 70mm cinemas in the former Czechoslovakia (end of 80's and beginning of 90's) it was unclear if the distribution of this would ever be re-estabilished. The equipment in the cinenema of Krnov was saved thanks to the enthusiasm of the cinema headman Pavel Tomesek, who put through the proposal of upgrading the projection room and sustaining the former equipment.

The employees of the cinema were big fans of 70mm film and were attending festivals in Europe, so the idea of introducing this film format in Czech Republic was born. The search for the copies in archives and gluing fragments from collectors and cinemas began. Thanks to public interest of the classic cults we started to reach out the international distribution and other festivals' organizers.

Previous years

4th year — 2009

4. ročník byl oslavou výročí 40 let od spuštění 70mm projekce v kině Mír 70 Krnov. Proto na programu nemohla chybět komedie Báječní muži na létajících strojích, která projekci „sedmdesátek" v Krnově odstartovala. Magnetem přehlídky byly takové tituly, jako 2001: Vesmírná odysea, Terminátor 2: Den zúčtování, Neuplatní, nebo film Poslední údolí, který byl uveden v české kinopremiéře. Z nových titulů byl na formátu 70mm představen film Paříž 36.

3rd year — 2008

Mezi tituly, které byly na přehlídce k vidění, byl například stále populární muzikál West Side Story, historický film Kazimír Veliký, východoněmecká historická komedie Hejtman Florián, nebo historické velkofilmy Spartakus a Lawrence z Arábie (celostátní premiéra - film nebyl nikdy v české filmové distribuci).

2nd year — 2007

V tomto roce byla na přehlídce poprvé v ČR uvedena 70mm kopie filmu Doktor Živago (USA 1965) s Omarem Sharifem a Geraldinou Chaplin, historický velkofilm Potopa (Polsko 1974) nebo např. unikátní německý dokument Létající Clipper (NSR 1962).

1st year — 2006

Tento ročník přehlídky nabízel především sovětskou produkci - působivý životopisný snímek Vzlet (1979) o životě průkopníka teorie raketových letů K. E. Ciolkovského, hudební drama Cikáni jdou do nebe (1975) nebo tendenčně zaměřenou epopej Vojáci svobody (1977) - ale i západní sci-fi - Zajati vesmírem (USA 1969), Vetřelec (USA 1979), Ikaros (Signále - Ein Weltraumabenteuer, NSR 1970).
